Archbishop Riordan High School would like to thank each member of our community who has made a gift to advance the mission of our school. Tuition alone does not cover the cost to educate our young men. To provide a comprehensive Catholic education in the Marianist tradition and continue to create the best opportunities for our young men across the educational experience, we rely on support from members of the extended Riordan community.
There are many ways to support Archbishop Riordan High School. For more information, please contact Mr. John R. Ring, Director of Development, (415)586-8200 ext. 264, firstname.lastname@example.org, or another member of our Development Staff.
All individuals who make a gift will be recognized in our annual publication, Future Magazine. Those who make a gift of $2,500 and above will receive an invitation to the President’s Dinner held each year
The Annual Fund supports all areas of the school, from financial aid and retreat programs, to day-to-day operations. Typically this is a direct gift of cash or a pledge over the course of the year. Anyone can support the annual fund, and every gift counts!
Stocks and Real Estate
Archbishop Riordan accepts donations of securities which may be tax deductible based on market value. To download a stock transfer form, please click here. Please contact the Development Office for more information, (415)586-8200 ext 264. Real property, either in entirety or in part, can be deeded to Archbishop Riordan. It is even possible to arrange a sizable tax deduction by deeding a home or other building to the school now, while continuing to occupy the property for life. All real estate transactions are subject to inspection and final approval by the Archdiocese of San Francisco.
With proper planning, individuals can assume maximum returns on assets and engage tax benefits while supporting Archbishop Riordan. Our staff and network of financial professionals are available to help you assess your giving options and chose a path that will most benefit you and your family. For example, charitable remainder trusts can be built with assets you contribute, such as securities, appreciated property or cash. The Fennelly Society honors individuals who have made Archbishop Riordan a beneficiary of their estate plans, including bequests, charitable trusts, gifts of life insurance or retirement funds. These gifts of forethought guarantee the long-term vitality of Archbishop Riordan and also provide donors with valuable tax and income benefits during their lifetime.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
The IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution allows taxpayers age 70 ½ or older to transfer up to $100,000 annually from their IRA accounts directly to charity without first having to recognize the distribution as income.
How It Works:
- If you are 70½ or older, you can give up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to charities such as Archbishop Riordan High School.
- The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you still benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deductions.
- If you have not taken your required minimum distribution for the year, your IRA charitable rollover gift can satisfy all or part of that requirement.
- The transfer may be made in addition to any other charitable giving you have planned.
- The gift needs to be made by Dec. 31, 2019, if you want your gift to qualify this year.
If you have already made a qualifying gift in 2019, contact your advisor to make sure your gift is properly reported on your 2019 income tax returns.
Many employers offer corporate matching gift programs that will double or sometimes even triple an employee’s gift to Archbishop Riordan. Please check with your Human Resources Department for matching gift forms and programs.
Parent Pledge Program
The true cost to educate a child is more than tuition alone. Each year we ask current parents to support the school by participating in the Parent Pledge, a four-year commitment made by a family during a student’s freshman year. Gifts made to the Parent Pledge are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. To make a Parent Pledge, please click here. For questions about the Parent Pledge Form, contact Director of Annual Giving Anne Seppi, email@example.com.
Archbishop Riordan High School hosts several events during the school year to raise funds for financial aid and other school programs. This includes the Spring Gala and the Golf Tournament. Underwriting by individuals or businesses greatly assists the school with the expenses of producing these wonderful fundraising events. If you are interested in sponsoring an event, please contact Karin Haskell, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gifts Honoring Individuals
Special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other milestones, are a great opportunity to honor a relative, friend, or business associate. You can also make a gift to the school in honor of a person who has passed away. The Development Office staff can send a written notification to the person being honored or their family.
The gift of a scholarship is truly a symbol of stewardship by providing an education for the next generation of Crusaders. Endowed scholarships will grow in perpetuity. Thanks to generous donations from individuals, families, alumni classes and community organizations, including those noted below, Archbishop Riordan High School is able to provide millions of dollars in need-based scholarships for students to attend Riordan each year. For more information about how you can support scholarships at Riordan, or if you would like to create a class or family scholarship, please contact Development Associate, Jennie Done, email@example.com or (415)586-8200 ext. 247.
