NEW: 4x4 Bell Schedule and Lunch News
We will still utilize the 4x4 system next year. Classes listed in Periods 1-4 are the classes that you have in the first semester, and the classes that you have in Periods 5-8 are the classes you have in the second semester.
We have two lunch periods. During orientation, you will find out whether or not you have early or late lunch. Your lunch period will be reflected on your PowerSchool schedule when the school year starts.
Please click the button below to see the bell schedule for next year, which is different then the previous year; we plan on being back in-person five days a week in the fall and students are required to attend all days.

Summer Reading
This summer, the whole school is reading one book as a way to continue to build our family spirit. This year's novel is Binti by Nnedi Okorafor.
See this link for more details, and a list of other reading recommendations for this summer! Click here for more details about the project instructions.
There will be a formal assessment for summer reading, and each English course next year will be using the book for their first unit, so reading the book will be critical to getting off to a good start in English next year. Other departments will also be using it in their instruction and assessments, so reading the book is extremely important.
The supplemental reading list is not required but includes books that we think students will enjoy and are thought-provoking.
You can support Riordan when purchasing books by using Amazon Smile! Select Archbishop Riordan High School as your designation.
Buying Books
Riordan’s online bookstore through e-Campus opens July 19, and free shipping is available July 19-25. Please note that some digital texts may take up to 5 to 7 days to arrive for download. If you have any questions, contact the e-Campus Customer Service Team by email, Live Chat, or by calling (844) 523-8980.
Students should use their Riordan email to order, and new students can use a regular email. Fall semester schedules (Classes 1-4) can be viewed in PowerSchool beginning July 1.
Teachers will be giving instructions about other materials needed for courses during the first days of school. There is no pre-set supply list.
Schedule Change Requests
If you would like to request a schedule change, or have questions about your schedule, please fill out this form.
Schedule change requests will only be honored for the following reasons:
- You were misplaced in a class that you are not qualified for or did not request.
- You have changed your mind about taking an AP or honors course.
We will not make any changes based on teacher or time of day preference. Not all requests will be granted.
"0" Period
Many of you in the Band program will have a course in the "0" period. This is a class that will take place from 7:50 - 8:35 am during the semester that you do not have your other band course. This was created so that students could attend a band class all year. Your band instructor will provide more information about this before the start of the school year.
Technology: Ipads or Macbooks
All students are required to have at least an iPad for the first day of classes.
We recommend the iPad Air or above, the iPad Mini 5 or above, or the iPad Pro. While the iPad Mini is an acceptable choice, it has a much smaller screen, which can reduce the impact of certain visually interactive apps in the sciences or the arts. Students pursuing digital media courses and extracurriculars may want the larger format screen with retina display, available on both the iPad Air and the iPad Pro.
The iPad needs to be running the latest iOS at all times. To update this on the iPad, go to Settings > General > Software Update. While you are able to get older versions of the iPad, please be aware that certain older iPads (2014 or older) are unable to update to the latest iOS and will have limited application support. Typing on the iPad screen can be challenging and an external keyboard can be helpful for note taking in classes.
Macbooks are also acceptable as long as it's up-to-date with the latest operating system. It is recommended to use a Macbook for Engineering/Coding/Programming classes.
What about PCs or Chromebooks?
We are in the process of exploring a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Program here at Riordan. At the moment we have certain challenges supporting curriculums across other platforms besides Apple since we are an Apple centric school. Please be aware that PCs and Chromebooks will have limitations in our environment, especially in certain classes that require iBooks, iOS, and/or mac software.
