Tyrone L. McGraw Scholarship

A graduate of Riordan’s class of 2006, Tyrone was an exceptional student-athlete. His accomplishments at Riordan granted him a full scholarship to Stanford University where he excelled academically, ran track, and played football.

Tyrone faced many challenges in life but rose above them time after time. Thankful for the many opportunities that he received, Tyrone chose to give back by pursuing a life in public service as a legislative staff member at the California State Capitol, an intern at the White House, and a teacher at Urban Prep in Chicago. Tyrone passed away in 2017 at the age of 29 after a courageous three-year battle against cancer.

Though Tyrone’s life was cut short by illness, his legacy remains to help other students from similar backgrounds achieve great things. A preference for this scholarship will be given to black and latino students, students from the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood, and also those who, like Tyrone, have overcome adversity.

Never forget where you come from and always remember to give back.
