2019 Cross Country Season


Upcoming Dates
Monday, July 29 starts the “Dead and Conditioning Weeks/Periods” for all sports (CIF regulations).

Dead Week: July 29 – August 4
During this time there are to be no practices, walk throughs, individual time, chalk talks, film, meetings, player led practices, open gyms, or weight lifting. Enjoy the week off.

Conditioning Week: August 5 – 8

Varsity and Junior Varsity Athletic Teams can conduct running and lifting sessions with their teams.

August 9: The 2019 Fall Sports Season begins.  

In season Varsity and Junior Varsity teams (10th-12th grades) can start their normal practice routines/schedules. Sundays are always off limits to any Team Meetings or Practice, at all levels, at all times.
Cross Country runners in 10th-12th grade should report to the parking lot outside the track at 3:00 pm for their first practice of the season.

August 15: Fall sports tryouts/practices begin for all incoming 9th graders. 

Freshman going out for Cross Country will have their first practice after school on the first day of classes (August 15). Information about Fall Sports tryouts/practices, will be provided during the Freshman Orientation/Retreat, August 13. 

All Archbishop Riordan Student Athletes are expected to commit to all practices and games Monday-Saturday, throughout each sport season. Practices for all sports typically range Monday-Friday anytime from 3:00-6:30 pm. Saturday practices will typically be held in the morning. For the first couple of practices, Freshman will only need their PE outfits purchased through Sport Packs as well as running shoes or cleats, depending on the Fall Sport they choose to play.
