Riordan offers students a variety of programs for community building and faith development.
LIFE Team (Living In Faith Experience)
Responsible for Marianist Life Communities (MLCs), monthly faith sharing meetings, this senior-led team is one of the most fun and impactful Campus Ministry teams on campus. LIFE team members plan and execute these community gatherings that are based on scripture. Through retreat-like games and reflection, and always culminating in a shared meal, the goal is to show God’s love and presence to students in new, fun ways. The gatherings are focused on a theme, usually connected to a holiday. For instance, the November MLC may include turkey or pie so that students may celebrate Thanksgiving with their Crusader brothers!
LIFE Team members also participate in a special retreat over the summer with students from other Marianist schools.
Responsible for all school-wide liturgies, this team of sophomores and juniors plans, coordinates, and executes student body masses to foster and develop Gospel values through communal worship and prayer. Students also have the opportunity to be altar servers and lectors.
CORE Service Team
Responsible for all Riordan service drives, this team of juniors and seniors brings awareness about local, national, and international causes and needs through monthly service drives. Sample drives include:
- Billy Choy ‘06 AIDS Penny Drive, benefiting the AIDS Emergency Fund
- Blood Drive (Fall and Spring)
- Canned Food Drive benefiting St. Theresa’s parish in San Francisco
- SFFD Toy Drive
- School Supply Drive benefiting Our Lady of Nazareth, a Marianist-sponsored school in Kenya
Riordan is consistently ranked as one of the top schools in the Bay Area for blood donations!
These young men guide and mentor Freshmen through their first year at Riordan during a retreat and at four additional meeting during the school year. Mentors check in with students to see how they are adjusting and to introduce them to the many opportunities available at Riordan.
