Archbishop Riordan welcomes prospective students from all corners of the world to join our distinguished community in the heart of San Francisco.

*Applications for incoming international girls and boys are accepted on a rolling basis.

Application Requirements

1. Submit an Application Online

To prospective boarding students and international day students, we are accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year on a rolling basis. You will be asked to create a username and password. There is a $100 non-refundable fee that must be paid as part of the online application.

2. Submit Additional Documents

In addition to filling out our online application, we ask that you submit the following documents in order to be considered by our admissions team:

  • A photocopy of the applicant's passport
  • Grade transcripts from the applicant's previous/current school
  • Recommendation letters (optional)

Please email these documents to Danny Curtin, Director of Admissions, at dcurtin@riordanhs.org. Additionally, official school documents (recommendation forms and transcripts) must also be mailed directly from the applicant's current school using a school envelope. Mailing information is below:

3. Interview

An interview is required of all students and will be conducted either in person, via Skype, or via WeChat. 

4. English Proficiency Testing

All international students are encouraged to submit official scores from TOEFL, TOEFL Junior (grades 9 and 10 only). School Codes: TOEFL: 0975, SSAT: 1345

Information for Accepted students

Visa and Guardian Information

If a student is accepted to the Archbishop Riordan Boarding Program, the school will issue an I-20 after receipt of the signed enrollment contract, required deposit, and signed Guardianship Form. Each family is required to designate an adult living in the San Francisco Bay Area as a guardian for the student in the event of an emergency or to provide lodging during school breaks. Parents are responsible for finding their child’s guardian.

ESL Program Placement

This placement will be based on your application, interview, and TOEFL score. You may also be asked to take the English Language Placement Test, which is administered at Riordan High School during the first week of school.
