R VOICES: Siddarth Thomas ‘25 : National Merit Scholar SemiFinalist
Riordan has defined the last three years of my life. What truly sets Riordan apart is its diversity, vibrant spirit, and commitment to continuous improvement. From the introduction of co-ed education just before I arrived to the recent upgrades like a new library, green room, and an expanding engineering program, Riordan consistently enhances its culture. I’ve witnessed the growth of everything from the new flag football team to our longstanding band.
At Riordan’s homecoming games, Crusader rallies, and through various clubs, I’ve found a supportive community that has been with me every step of the way. Although not all experiences have been easy, each has played a role in my personal growth and in forging deep friendships.
My successes with the robotics team and band are part of a larger story, evident in the new members who eagerly join each year, ready to contribute to our legacy. I take pride in my role in the Riordan NHS Chapter, serving as a mentor and tutor to younger students. Riordan fosters individual achievements while celebrating them throughout the community, which makes it truly special.
I vividly remember my first rally at Riordan—the noise and excitement felt overwhelming and unfamiliar. Now, I proudly participate, carrying the spirit of the Crusaders with me wherever I go. As I look toward college, I hope to find a community as spirited and supportive as Riordan, though I know that’s a rare find. When I was first applying to high schools, I struggled to find the right words to express my experiences, but what I’ve learned here could fill a library with stories and lessons.
As Vice Principal of Academics Nate Simon ‘99 says, “Sid Thomas has excelled in eight AP and honors classes at Riordan, earning an A in all of them. This year, he will take three more, bringing his total to 11. Additionally, he participates in the Engineering program and is a St. Francis Scholar, taking extra courses for both programs. With a weighted GPA of 4.25, which is expected to rise further after his current classes conclude in December, Sid is an exemplary student who balances his achievements with a rare calmness and positivity.”
