Parent Support Services
These large group sessions are primarily designated for specific divisions
of students and their parents/ guardians.
Important information about
college and career selection process as well as testing and financial
aid is presented.
All meetings are from 7:00- 8:30 pm
- Tuesday, September 12th: ARHS (Cafeteria)
“College Information Evening for Parents and Guardians
of Seniors”
An opportunity for all parents/guardians of Senior students to
gather more information about the final phases of the college selection
and application process for their sons.
Important dates for the completion of this process will be noted.
Junior students are also welcome to attend.
- Tuesday, December 7th: ARHS (Cafeteria)
“Understanding the Financial Aid Forms and Process for
the Parent and Guardians of the Seniors”
A thorough walk-through of the actual college financial aid forms
with time for questions and answers. Offered only for the parents/guardians
of seniors.
- Thursday, January 11th: ARHS (Cafeteria)
PLAN Test results and Career Choices/College Portfolio Update
Sophomores and their parents/guardians will have a chance to learn
about the career selection process particularly as it impacts the
post-high school education choices of each student. A review of the
PLAN career inventory/academic tests will be given with participants
receiving the student’s personal evaluations along with college
information. Please bring your college portfolios with you on this
night.

PSAT Test results and College Portfolio Update
Important information regarding the PSAT and how this test relates
to the SAT and the college admission process. Important dates will
be given about the SAT and how Juniors can prepare in the Spring
for the test. Please bring your college portfolios with you on this
night.
- Thursday, January 25th: ARHS (Cafeteria)
“An Important College Information Evening, Primarily
for Juniors and Their Parents and Guardians”
Participants will hear from the representatives of the four major
types of college systems in California (the University of California
system, the California State University system, Private and Independent
Universities, and Community Colleges). The presentations will center
on the requirements, offerings and various options for each of these
segments. Sophomores and their parents/guardians may also attend.
- Thursday, February 7th: ARHS (Cafeteria)
“Freshman Portfolio Night and College Introduction”
General information on the college application process, from applying
to colleges to scholarships will be introduced to freshman parents.
College portfolios will be given to you on this night. These portfolios
will be your reference for the next four years. It will help you
track
your son’s progression towards higher education.
- Thursday, March 29th: ARHS (Cafeteria)
“Post High School Transitions Issues for the Parents
and Guardians of the Seniors”
An opportunity for the parents/guardians of Senior students to
focus on the changes and challenges which they and their sons may
experience
when in college. Transition into the world of college life as well
as other post-high school experiences will be discussed. Only for
the parents/guardians of the seniors.
