SOPHOMORE YEAR

ACADEMICS

Develop strong study skills
Identify and utilize academic support resources
Try to have the highest GPA possible while taking the most challenging class load possible.

 

ACTIVITIES
Continue involvement with sports, clubs, school events
Continue community service work

 

CAREERS
Explore interests and skills by talking to people in fields that may interest you.
Read about different career opportunities.

 

COLLEGES
Access academic progress, test scores and ability to qualify for different colleges.
Explore college options
Visit college campuses during the summer and speak to people about their college experiences.

 

TESTS
Sophomore – the counseling department gives the PLAN exam to obtain a predictor of ACT and SAT scores along with a career assessment.
High Achieving students may want to take SAT Subject exams as they complete coursework.

 

SUMMER
Register for classes at high schools or community colleges to either improve an academic area where there is a deficiency or for enrichment.
College credit may be earned and applied to different universities.
