Ways to Give Archbishop Riordan High School would like to thank each member of our community who has supported our mission. We could not exist financially on tuition alone and it takes the support of dedicated constituents to make it possible. As we go forward in our goals of providing a well-rounded Catholic education in the Marianist Tradition, we continue to ask for your support. Ways to Support Archbishop Riordan High School Annual Fund The Annual Fund is our primary resource for support. A portion of our Annual Appeal covers the cost of our day-to-day operations. These gifts are generally a direct gift of cash or a pledge contribution over the school year. Special Events Archbishop Riordan High School hosts many events during the school year which include our parent and student fundraisers, the Purple and Gold Gala and the Riordan Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament. Underwriting proceeds assist the school with the expenses of producing these wonderful fundraising events. Memorials and Honorarium Gifts On special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduation and other milestones, memorial and honorarium gifts offer an opportunity to pay tribute to a relative, friend, or business associate. Obituaries At the time of death, friends and relatives often look for a way
to express sympathy. The following message in the obituary of the
deceased provides an opportunity to make a meaningful gift: Memorial gifts may be made to Archbishop Riordan High School, Bequests By specifying Riordan as a recipient in your will, you assure a legacy that lasts beyond your lifetime. Your attorney should be instructed that our corporate title is Archbishop Riordan High School. Endowments An endowment is a gift that is held in perpetuity and invested in a manner that protects the principal from inflation. The investment income provides a stable funding source for scholarships. Endowment donors have the opportunity to have a lasting influence on ARHS’s character and to honor or memorialize loved ones, friends, colleagues, teachers, or other individuals. A class endowment gift is a popular way in which graduates can unite together to support their alma mater. Building Archbishop Riordan High School’s Endowment is a top priority. Because endowments are held in perpetuity and invested for the long term, these gifts provide one of the most secure sources of future revenue. Your Giving Can Take Several Forms Cash Donations A gift of cash is the most common. To donate via the mail simply send a cash donation with a check to: You will receive a thank you letter listing the amount of the donation within a few days. Save this for your taxes. Securities Donating stock is a desirable way to give. The best stocks to donate are appreciated stocks. Stocks which are held for more than a year allow you to pay no capital gains tax on the transaction. You can also take an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock. If you have stock losses, sell the stock yourself to realize the loss and take the deduction for tax purposes. Then generate a charitable contribution deduction by donating the cash proceeds of the sale to Archbishop Riordan High School. Planned Gifts Charitable remainder trusts are built with assets you contribute, such as securities, appreciated property or cash. Once placed in trust, the assets can be sold (avoid capital gains tax) and the proceeds reinvested to produce a higher yield. You also receive an immediate charitable deduction on your income taxes. Car Donation Program When you donate your car or truck to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society, Archbishop Riordan High School will benefit. Call 415-592-9200 and mention Archbishop Riordan High School and the school will receive 50% from the sale of the donated vehicle.
