2008 Purple and Gold Gala Madeline, Bill ‘62 and Dan ‘72 Duggan chaired this year’s gala, and the Duggan Family was honored for their service to countless families in their time of need, and also for their ongoing support of Archbishop Riordan High School. Guests were greeted by President, Fr. Thomas French, S.M, Kevin Asbra, Principal, and San Francisco icon, Beefeater, Tom Sweeney ’76. Guests arrived to the cocktail party and a silent auction room featuring replicas of Coit Tower, Chinatown, Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf and Lombard Street. In the hotel’s Grand Ballroom, MC, Bob Sarlatte and Auctioneer George Noceti ’67 kept the auction lively. Each guest had the opportunity to purchase a $100 playing card to win an LCD TV donated by the Police Officers Association. New Board of Trustees member, Chris Cunnie ’72 was the delighted winner! Chiefs of protocol, students Errol Tu’ufuli ’08, Michael Mackey ’08, Ron Kuchac ’09, Mark Gayapa ’08 and Philip Davidovich ’10 looked dazzling In their tuxedos escorting guests to their seats. ARHS Board Chairman, Mike Mayer’71 and trustee Tony Sanchez-Corea ’80 received jeweled hard hats, announcing the groundbreaking of the “Legacy of Hope” building project at Riordan which includes the Carl Gellert and Celia Berta Gellert Ministry and Technology Center, Lecture Hall and Visual Arts Center. Janet and Ken Bollier ‘57 bid and won a London trip, while Susan Anderson, Alumni parent will spend time in Silverado. Mynor Aragon ’98, Loretta Penning, Steve Mayer ’72 and Sally Pappalardo all won a separate catered summer bar-b-que for 20 guests at the beautiful Hillsborough Estate of Sally and Michael Mayer’ 72. After the Live Auction, guests danced away the night. The event raised $90,000 for the “Legacy of Hope” Building project.
