Financial Assistance FAQ

Do you award scholarships based on academic, athletic, or any other student performance?
No. All are awards are based on financial need.

Do I have to be accepted to Riordan before I can apply for assistance?
No. If you wait until your letter of acceptance in March you will have missed the deadline date for filing for Financial Assistance. Deadline date for filing is January 31, 2010.

How will I know if I qualify for assistance and the amount of my award?
You will be notified of your financial aid status with your enrollment decision letter in March.

What is the maximum grant awarded for Financial Assistance?
Financial Assistance Grants for the 2009/2010 school averaged $4,000.00. This year 37% of our student population received some type of financial assistance.

What is the maximum family income you can make in order to qualify for financial assistance?
As the applicant pool changes each year, it is difficult to identify the qualifying income from one year to the next. Normally, families whose yearly income is over $65,000 do not qualify for assistance.

If I qualify for assistance, when do I receive my grant?
Your award is credited on your tuition account in July. Your revised monthly payments are identified on your July tuition statement.

Is there any commitment from the student if they are awarded financial assistance?
Yes, our current program includes students working 10 hours of volunteer service to the school per semester, show consistent effort toward maintaining a 2.0 GPA, and have a good discipline record.

How much does tuition increase every year?
Over the past five years tuition has increased between 6 to 8 percent per year.

Are there any other charges besides the tuition fee?
Yes, for the 2009/2010 school year, other fees included a application fee of $100.00 and a registration fee of $600.00. Families will also be responsible for purchasing textbooks for their sons. Textbook purchases range from $200.00 - $400.00 per year.
