Welcome to Archbishop Riordan High School!

“Brotherhood begins here!” At Archbishop Riordan, we provide a rigorous academic program in a supportive family atmosphere. We welcome young men from diverse backgrounds - each with their own special abilities and personal gifts - and we hold them to high standards.

From the moment a young man steps onto our campus, he becomes a member of our family and part of the Riordan brotherhood. Archbishop Riordan students are proud to be part of this brotherhood that enables them to grow, learn, and support one another. These friendships are often forged for life. Archbishop Riordan students push themselves and each other when they perform, whether it is in the classroom, on a playing field, or on a stage.

At Archbishop Riordan High School, we think it is important to build and nurture our students’ self-confidence. Their brotherhood comes from spending a very important period of their lives together. Our students learn from each other by sharing their cultural identities, by competing as teammates, and by pushing each other to succeed. These boys mature into responsible adults together. They are comrades on the way to becoming contributing members of society.

If you “google” single-gender education, you will find countless documents about the differences between how boys and girls learn. Boys are wired differently, and are more successful in an academic environment specifically suited for them. Archbishop Riordan has a tradition of teaching only boys for nearly 60 years. Our faculty, especially our women teachers, do not take their students’ gender for granted. In fact, our faculty and administration factor in the all-boys environment when developing the excellent curriculum and programs that are best for our students.

Archbishop Riordan acknowledges that boys learn differently, even from one another. Archbishop Riordan offers a college preparatory curriculum that includes an outstanding Advanced Placement program. We train students with learning exceptionalities through our Resource Specialist Program. Riordan is renown for its visual and performing arts program, its competitive athletic program and its co-curricular activities. Campus Ministry and Community Service programs allow students to grow in their relationships with their families, their friends, and their God.

Families choose Archbishop Riordan High School because it prepares students for college and the challenges of adulthood. We welcome you to make an informed decision about our school. Please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Admission at (415) 586-1256 to learn more about Archbishop Riordan High School. Brotherhood begins here!

Sincerely,
