Theater Program :: Involvement
Become a Theatre Student
Sign up for a theatre arts class to fulfill your Fine Arts Class requirement for
admission into the UC system. Theatre Arts 1 is for freshmen and Introduction to
Acting is for 10th, 11th and 12th graders.
"One of the things when students study arts in depth is (that) they have more
focus, more discipline, better problem-solving skills and they've learned how to
work collaboratively with other people. The arts are central to life." Elain
Harding, Executive Director of Art Works. Source: Arts Education Network Weekly

Become a Cast Member
Auditioning for the fall play and/or spring musical gives students the
opportunity to explore the amazing transformative experience of performing on
stage and making lifetime memories.
Join Stage Crew
Build the sets and run the shows, mentored by theatre professionals and a
hands-on technical director. Help set up and run liturgies and outside rentals.
Drama Club
The Drama Club meets at lunch for Open Mic Mondays, and every Thursday at lunch
for business meetings and Improv Workouts.
http://schooltheatre.org/society Students (both male and female) can join
the International Thespian Society's Troupe #5596. The I.T.S. offers "Star"
points for activities in and around the theatre such as cast, crew, workdays,
outings, and field trips. With the current challenges of higher education
college admission officers like to see that students are busy with
extracurricular activities in their high school years. Inductions into the
Troupe happen each spring at the Drama Awards Banquet. Membership is optional
(and not required for participation in the Drama Club), and for $20 you receive
a personalized membership card and a 1-year subscription to Dramatics Magazine.

Drama Boosters
An ongoing group of dedicated parents whose teens either attend Riordan or
appear on or back stage (or in the pit orchestra for the spring musical), the
Boosters are vital to the success of each production for their tireless
dedication to helping their kids succeed. Each production holds several Drama
Booster workdays on Saturdays from 10am-5pm and ARHS parents are encouraged to
work off volunteer hours in a relaxed, fun and creative atmosphere.
Riordan Drama Alumni
Through a Facebook page and annual Alumni Night at the Musical we keep in good
touch with many of our alums. In the fall of 2013 we will produce our first
revival alumni event over Labor Day weekend entitled Lucky ‘13: A Labor of Love.
We are currently in the planning stages and formulating a committee and line up.
If you are interested or know someone who should be involved please contact Ms.
Valerie O'Riordan at
