Music Program :: Colorguard
The Archbishop Riordan Colorguard was started in Fall 2008
by alumnus, Mark Lieuw (Class of 07). The program is a collaboration between
Riordan, Mercy SF, and ICA High School. The 2010-2011 school year marks the
third year for the Riordan Colorguard. The colorguard has been a great asset and
addition to the band! In previous years, Riordan has only had one colorguard in
(2004-2005) with a nine-member all-male flagline in the back of the band. This
year, we have a new assistant colorguard instructor, Paisley Parker, who has
performed with Drum Corps International (DCI) World Class drum corps: Santa
Clara Vanguard. During the 2010-2011 academic year, the colorguard has grown to
our largest ensemble of 14 members.
In 2009-2010 school year, the guard reached a new milestone with seven members,
a rifle line, and brand new uniforms! After being recognized as a part of the
marching band last year by NCBA, the colorguard will started this fall season in
full competition . In October 2010, colorguard placed fourth at the Santa Cruz
Band Review and, a third place trophy was won at the Foothill Band Review, and a
second place trophy won at the Fairfield Tournament of Champions.
Colorguard is always looking for new recruits so come out and give it a try!
Bring your friends! No experienece is necessary!
